One Sentence Perfume Review: 31 rue Cambon, Chanel

31 rue Cambon is a Shirley Temple chypre--pretty, precocious and mildly annoying.

Notes per Bois de Jasmin (and me): bergamot, jasmine, black pepper, patchouli, cistus labdanum, iris

And yet, who can resist her. I received a Shirley Temple doll for Christmas when I was 10 years and just loved her --- those curls!

Oh, I loved Shirley, too. Her movies used to come on TV on Saturday afternoons where we lived, and my grandmother and I would always watch them.

31RC is very nice, but my inner chypre lover finds her a little too Goody Two Shoes.

I'm looking at those listed notes, and that combination does seem a little - odd? Is it a fem fragrance or does it have a unisex vibe?

Oops, jasmine got left out at BdeJ, and by me. Most all the sites list jasmine among the official notes. I'll fix the post.

In answer your question, though, it's a moderately feminine scent. A confident guy could definitely wear it.
