"My lover, my friend, my slave, my toy..."

Mine, says the cat, putting out his paw of darkness.
My lover, my friend, my slave, my toy, says
the cat making on your chest his gesture of drawing
milk from his mother’s forgotten breasts.

*This post is in memory of Binx and Harley, who have been on my mind. Thanks to Julie and Miko for inspiration.

What a wonderful poem. Thank you.

It is so sensual. My relationship with my cat is not like this, and I can't imagine she feels differently (whatever it is she feels). Oh, how I wish I knew what went on in that brain of hers!

I had this sort of sensual relationship with one of my cats, the other was more of an intellectual companion. That individualism is what I miss about having a cat. Dogs, being pack animals, tend to accommodate themselves to whatever agenda you set, whereas cats are always their own weird, idiosyncratic selves.

That was truly wonderful...You must be missing your kitties a lot. (((hugs)))

I do, E. I miss having a cat generally, but I also grieve for Binx and Harley in particular. They were such funny characters, and they were part of our household for a long time.

Sorry, I didn't see that you had dedicated your post to two cats you once had, or had shouted out to Miko and me!

Perhaps you should get a cat? I hear they are wonderful.

Just kidding, Miko!

I've never met Miko, but I like her already. I love a cat's cat.

I'm afraid a new cat will have to wait until Nio passes on, or at least becomes old and slow. My other 2 dogs were raised with cats, but Nio wasn't and we'd be taking a chance if we brought a cat within striking distance. He's a sweet dog and we might be able to convince him that a cat was part of the pack, but I wouldn't want to face the consequences if we failed.
