Local sex

The paper I write for, the Nashville Scene, has a funny/raunchy cover story this week about the city's odd laws governing the sex trade. Click over to the website to check it out. Somehow I suspect you will find it more amusing if you know that the reporter, P.J. Tobia, is young and male. (BTW, I had absolutely nothing to do with this story. My only contribution to the paper this week is a sober review of an earnest book about free speech in the workplace.)

There are all kinds of issues about class and caste lurking under those strange ordinances. Obviously the PTB feel that some of us need to be protected from the seedy side of sex, and some of us don't.

I read in the paper this morning about a man who was arrested at a strip club for tipping the dancers with counterfeit money!-- ironically completing the wholly artificial exchange. It is reminiscent of that old joke of the Soviet proletariat: "We pretend to work, and they pretend to pay us."

HA! Tha cracked me up, Bozo. In all fairness, though, I think the strippers do work--just not necessarily as advertised.
