This week's
Sunday Herald from Glasgow has a nice little rant from one of its regular columnists about celebrity perfumes. I suspect the writer is more celeb basher than perfumista (sandalwood top notes?), but her heart's in the right place. The last half dozen paragraphs, starting with the quote from J-Lo, are quite funny.

"..for the first time in their history, the smell of the fragrance has absolutely nothing to do with its sales."
ReplyDeleteWell, that's debatable, but she's generally on point, I think. I don't automatically discount a fragrance because it's celeb. I mean, I have to hand it to Sarah Jessica Parker, I think she came out with a really well-conceived one in Lovely...and I don't even like musk. But I definitely get her point. Do we really need a Paris Hilton perfume? I suspect Lindsey Lohan's next.
I agree about Lovely--it's just fine, tho' not wearable for me. I can't think of another big-time celeb scent I would give you 2 cents for, but I will confess to liking a couple of marginal ones, both discontinued: Priscilla Presley's Indian Summer, and Patti LaBelle's sig scent. Patti's is a big ol' floral screamer, like Mackie only more so. I still wear it every once in a great while.
ReplyDeleteSince I have no scents, I shall simply limit myself to tagging you for the I, Splotchy fiction meme.
ReplyDeletePhydeaux, I am flattered to be tagged, but that meme defeats me. I am too slow for this game. I'll kibbitz, though...
