Nashville has a pretty lively art scene, too. And yes--lots and lots of musicians. It's still very much a Bible Belt city, but the different factions coexist pretty well. A few years ago they put up a sculpture of chaste, frolicking nudes on Music Row and some people were deeply distressed, but the sculpture's still there. That's so Nashville, as the local alt paper says.BitterGracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18262639525430954930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7039707457010939097.post-39025386647749475592010-01-16T10:12:49.293-06:002010-01-16T10:12:49.293-06:00I love Tennessee. Of course I should mention that ...I love Tennessee. Of course I should mention that my father's family settled in Wartrace, near Shelbyville, in the early 19th century and many of them are buried there, up behind the old Walking Horse Inn. I think Chattanooga's visual arts scene is better in many ways than Atlanta's. I haven't been to Nashville lately, but have heard it described as being more and more like LA in the sense of being full of ambitious musicians and the like...true?

I love your writing, Maria.Olfactahttp://olfactarama.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7039707457010939097.post-71975287424769946522010-01-15T15:18:04.531-06:002010-01-15T15:18:04.531-06:00You should come visit, Chaya--this place is lousy ...You should come visit, Chaya--this place is lousy with geniuses. I find it odd...I relished your article, my sister.

I find it oddly comforting that Tennessee has nurtured and contributed so many fascinating folk from all walks of life ;-)chayaruchamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04889166567884475415noreply@blogger.com
